ABOUT RAJKOT

Everyone associated with Rajkot may have a faint memory of a child like quiz-

Tell me the name  of  the Town where,

RAJA KARE RAJ ANE DARJI SIVE COAT ?

and a chuckling childlike answer saying,

“You don’t know that ?” The answer is R A J K O T.

Jokes apart, Rajkot – the formal capital of princely state of Saurashtra is said to have been founded by Kunver Vibhaji four centuries back.

The city got its fame on account of being a pre-independence British Hukmat  Thana - a La (Lagan), lateron for being freedom movement center of  Saurashtra region and later for the now famous ALFREAD HIGHSCHOOL – where Mahatma Gandhiji took part of his education.

Today Rajkot is a self made industrial entrepreneur kind of city boasting of being the largest diesel engines manufacturing center and also being the largest gold making center in India.  The city is spread approximately over 100 square kilometers and has a population of 1.2 million loving ,caring and spirited people from allcastes and cadres.
